Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (15.25 oz) strawberry cake mix
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup (170g) white chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Optional Toppings:
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Base
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Step 2: Assemble the Layers
- Press â…” of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula or your hands.
- Sprinkle the white chocolate chips evenly over the base layer.
Step 3: Add the Gooey Filling
- In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour this mixture over the white chocolate chips, spreading it evenly.
Step 4: Add the Topping
- Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the condensed milk layer. It doesn’t need to cover completely—gaps are fine.
Step 5: Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The center will still look slightly gooey, but it will set as it cools.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment overhang. Cut into squares or bars. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use Room Temperature Ingredients: This ensures smooth mixing and even baking.
- Don’t Overbake: The bars should be set on the edges but still soft in the center for the perfect gooey texture.
- Customize the Flavors: Add chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or freeze-dried strawberries for extra texture and flavor.
