Ingredients

Scale

For the Seafood Filling:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb scallops, cleaned and halved if large
  • 1 cup crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the White Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Lasagna Layers:

  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Seafood Filling

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add the shrimp and scallops. Cook for 2-3 minutes until just opaque.
  3. Stir in the crab meat, season with salt and pepper, and remove from heat. Set aside.

Step 2: Make the White Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Gradually whisk in the warm milk, ensuring no lumps form.
  3. Add the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, beaten egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Top with a third of the ricotta mixture, a third of the seafood filling, and a third of the white sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of white sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.

Step 5: Bake the Lasagna

  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  2. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Seafood: Fresh shrimp, scallops, and crab provide the best flavor. If using frozen, thaw and pat dry first.
  • Customize the Seafood: Substitute or add other seafood like lobster, clams, or salmon for variety.
  • Make It Ahead: Assemble the lasagna up to a day in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
