Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (like ribeye or sirloin)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (white button or cremini work great)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls, sliced and lightly toasted
- Optional toppings: Mayo, mustard, or hot sauce
Instructions
Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients
- Slice your beef, vegetables, and mushrooms thinly for even cooking.
- Toast your hoagie rolls lightly if desired and set aside.
Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables and Mushrooms
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Beef
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
- Add the thinly sliced beef and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.
Step 4: Assemble the Sandwich
- Reduce the heat to low. Return the cooked vegetables and mushrooms to the skillet, mixing them with the beef.
- Divide the mixture into 4 portions in the skillet.
- Place 1-2 slices of provolone cheese on each portion. Cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
Step 5: Build the Sandwich
- Using a spatula, scoop each cheesy beef-and-veggie portion onto a toasted hoagie roll.
- Add optional toppings like mayo, mustard, or hot sauce.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Quality Beef: Thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin ensures tender, flavorful meat.
- Get the Right Bread: A soft hoagie roll is ideal, but any sturdy sandwich bread will do.
- Melt the Cheese Just Right: Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt evenly over the beef and veggies.
