Ingredients
Scale
- 4 thick slices of sourdough bread
- 1 cup cooked crab meat (lump or claw, drained if needed)
- ½ cup canned or jarred artichoke hearts, drained and roughly chopped
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ teaspoon paprika (for a bit of smoky flavor)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1–2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Creamy Crab and Artichoke Mixture
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, chopped artichoke hearts, cream cheese, Parmesan, mozzarella, mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Step 2: Toast the Sourdough
- Lightly toast the sourdough slices in the oven or using a toaster until they are golden but still slightly soft in the center.
Step 3: Add the Topping
- Spread a generous layer of the crab and artichoke mixture evenly over each slice of toasted sourdough.
Step 4: Bake Until Golden
- Place the topped sourdough slices on a baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the topping is warm and bubbly.
- For a golden-brown finish, switch to the broiler for 1-2 minutes, but keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Fresh Sourdough: The slight tang of sourdough pairs perfectly with the rich topping.
- Don’t Overload the Toast: A thick layer of topping is great, but too much may cause it to slide off.
- Add a Kick: Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if you enjoy a bit of heat.
- Make it Ahead: You can prepare the crab mixture up to a day in advance and store it in the fridge until ready to use.
