Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed: The riper, the better for sweetness and flavor.
  • 1/3 cup honey: A natural sweetener with a hint of floral flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted: For richness and moisture.
  • 2 large eggs: To bind everything together.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract: Adds warmth and enhances the flavor.
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour: The base of the bread.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda: For the perfect rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt: Balances the sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional): For a subtle spice note.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Pan

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  2. Stir in the melted butter, honey, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.

Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients

  1. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using) to the wet mixture.
  2. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 4: Bake the Banana Bread

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use Overripe Bananas: Brown, spotty bananas are the secret to natural sweetness and moistness.
  • Don’t Overmix: Stir until just combined to avoid dense bread.
  • Customize It: Add chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried fruit for extra flavor and texture.
  • Test for Doneness: Ovens vary, so start checking at 50 minutes with a toothpick test.
