Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed: The riper, the better for sweetness and flavor.
- 1/3 cup honey: A natural sweetener with a hint of floral flavor.
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted: For richness and moisture.
- 2 large eggs: To bind everything together.
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract: Adds warmth and enhances the flavor.
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour: The base of the bread.
- 1 teaspoon baking soda: For the perfect rise.
- 1/2 teaspoon salt: Balances the sweetness.
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional): For a subtle spice note.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Stir in the melted butter, honey, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients
- Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using) to the wet mixture.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 4: Bake the Banana Bread
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use Overripe Bananas: Brown, spotty bananas are the secret to natural sweetness and moistness.
- Don’t Overmix: Stir until just combined to avoid dense bread.
- Customize It: Add chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried fruit for extra flavor and texture.
- Test for Doneness: Ovens vary, so start checking at 50 minutes with a toothpick test.
