Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off, your choice)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (or lime juice for extra tang)
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional, for added richness)
- Chopped parsley or green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp
- Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel to ensure they cook evenly.
- In a bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to mix.
Step 2: Cook the Shrimp
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque.
Step 3: Add the Honey Garlic Sauce
- Pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet and stir to coat the shrimp evenly.
- Let the sauce simmer for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly. If desired, add a tablespoon of butter for extra richness.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.
- Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: Shrimp cook quickly—1-2 minutes per side is all you need! Overcooking can make them rubbery.
- Adjust the Sweetness: If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the honey slightly.
- Spice it Up: Add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha for a spicy kick.
- Fresh or Frozen Shrimp: If using frozen shrimp, thaw them completely and pat dry before cooking.
