Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped Reese’s candies (cups, pieces, or miniatures)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolate goodness)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
Step 2: Add the Mix-Ins
- Gently fold in the chopped Reese’s candies and chocolate chips (if using) until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Chill the Dough
- Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading while baking.
Step 4: Bake the Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly underbaked. (This helps keep them gooey!)
Step 5: Cool and Serve
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Don’t Skip Chilling: Chilling the dough is key for thick, gooey cookies that don’t spread too much.
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh cream cheese and high-quality Reese’s candies make all the difference.
- Extra Gooeyness: Press a few extra Reese’s pieces or chocolate chips into the tops of the cookies right before baking.
- Store Properly: Keep cookies soft by storing them in an airtight container with a slice of bread to retain moisture.
