For the Shrimp:

  • lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For the Creamy Garlic-Paprika Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (adds richness)

  • 1 tsp lemon juice (brightens the flavor)

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

For Serving:

  • Cooked pasta, rice, or crusty bread

  • Lemon wedges on the side


Instructions

Step 1: Season the Shrimp

  1. In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until well coated.

  2. Let it sit while you prep the rest of your ingredients.

Step 2: Sear the Shrimp

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1½–2 minutes per side, until just pink and cooked through.

  3. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Creamy Garlic-Paprika Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter.

  2. Once melted, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using).

  3. Cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant.

  4. Stir in smoked paprika, onion powder, and salt.

  5. Pour in the heavy cream, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom for flavor.

  6. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 4: Add Cheese and Lemon

  1. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and sauce is smooth.

  2. Add lemon juice for a touch of brightness.

Step 5: Return the Shrimp and Finish

  1. Add cooked shrimp back to the skillet and stir to coat in the creamy sauce.

  2. Simmer on low for 1–2 minutes until heated through.

  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Step 6: Serve and Garnish

 

  1. Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

  2. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Use Fresh or Frozen Shrimp – If using frozen, thaw completely and pat dry before cooking.
Don’t Overcook – Shrimp cooks quickly; overcooked shrimp become rubbery.
Let the Sauce Simmer – This helps it thicken and blend flavors.
Add Veggies – Spinach, roasted red peppers, or mushrooms are great stir-ins.
Adjust Spice – Control the heat by adjusting red pepper flakes or paprika.
