Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Sear the Shrimp
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until just pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
- Reduce heat to medium. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Stir in smoked paprika, sweet paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 10-15 seconds to release the flavors.
Step 3: Add Cream and Broth
- Pour in the heavy cream and chicken or vegetable broth, stirring well to combine. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 4: Thicken the Sauce (Optional)
- If the sauce seems thin, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1-2 minutes until thickened.
Step 5: Return the Shrimp
- Add the cooked shrimp back to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes, just to heat through.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: Overcooked shrimp become rubbery. Cook just until they turn pink.

- Make it Dairy-Free: Use coconut milk in place of heavy cream for a lighter, dairy-free version.
