Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tablespoon lemon juice)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. In another bowl, whisk melted butter, sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  1. Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix!

Step 5: Bake the Bread

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 6: Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

  1. Brush the top and sides of the warm bread with melted butter.
  2. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle (or roll) the bread in the mixture until fully coated.

Step 7: Slice and Enjoy!

  1. Let the bread cool completely before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use Room Temperature Ingredients: This helps the batter mix evenly.
  • Don’t Overmix: Stir just until combined for a light and fluffy texture.
  • Make It Extra Moist: Add a tablespoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt to the batter.
  • Spice It Up: Add a pinch of nutmeg for even more donut flavor!
