For the Burgers:
- 1 lb ground beef or chicken
- ½ teaspoon salt

Toppings (Optional but Recommended):
- 4 slices cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup caramelized onions
- ¼ cup diced tomatoes
- ¼ cup shredded lettuce
- 2 tablespoons ranch or burger sauce
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cabbage Nests
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds and place them on the baking sheet.
- Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Roast for 20 minutes, flipping halfway, until edges are crispy.
Step 2: Make the Burger Patties
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef (or chicken) with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, egg, and breadcrumbs.
- Form into 4 equal-sized patties, slightly pressing the centers down to prevent shrinking.
Step 3: Bake the Burgers
- After the cabbage has roasted for 20 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven.
- Place a burger patty on top of each cabbage nest.
- Return to the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, until burgers are cooked through (internal temperature should be 160°F for beef or 165°F for chicken).
- Add cheese slices on top of each patty and bake for 2 more minutes until melted.
Step 4: Add Toppings & Serve
- Remove from the oven and let the burgers rest for 5 minutes.
- Top with caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a drizzle of ranch or burger sauce.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
